Thanks to the collaboration with the Bobbio family, the City of Turin and the Piero Gobetti Centre, from 30 October 2024 the Norberto Bobbio Library on the Luigi Einaudi Campus will host the study of Prof. Norberto Bobbio on the second floor in block C1.
A pupil of Gioele Solari, Norberto Bobbio was one of the most influential Italian intellectuals of the 20th century. He taught Philosophy of Law and, later, Philosophy of Politics at the University of Turin. His thinking was inspired by the need to combine the demands of individual freedom with those of social equality. In 1984 he was appointed Senator for life.
The setting up of the space - with objects and working tools used by the professor and donated by his family to the University of Turin - aimed to recreate the atmosphere of what was Bobbio's study in his home in Via Sacchi in Turin.
On the bookshelves donated by the family together with the desk, Olivetti typewriter and some memorabilia, books on Bobbio and by Bobbio that are part of the library's collections have found their place in the room.
The study, with a view of the Dora, not only has a museological function, but is also a room for welcoming foreign lecturers visiting UniTo.
